英語時間通常用以下兩種方法表達：

一、直接表達法

A. 用基數詞 + o'clock來表示整點，注意o'clock須用單數，可以省略。如：eight o'clock 八點鐘B. 用基數詞按鐘點 + 分鐘的順序直接寫出時間。如：eleven-o-five 十一點過五分

二、間接表達法

A. 如果分鐘數少於30分鐘，可用分鐘 + past + 鐘點表示，其中past是介詞，意思是“過”。如：twenty past four 四點二十 eight past one 一點八分

B. 如果分鐘數多於30分鐘，可用（60分鐘-原分鐘數）+ to +（原鐘點數+ 1）表示，其中to是介詞，意思是“差”。
